Hamlet Quote I Favor

"Madness in great ones must not go unwatched". This is a quote I favor from Hamlet because I love the way it was said, and it makes perfect sense. It means to always look over or have a watch for those people who have tricks up their sleeve, or those who are very intelligent when it comes to planning a revenge when their mad. In Hamlet's point of view he says this because he is a mad person and he believes that he should not go unwatched because he has a plan to get revenge on Claudius.

Be True to Yourself!

Polonious gave a lot of advice to Laertes, and the most valuable one is be true to yourself. I feel that's the most valuable advice because it's something carried in our generation till this day. When Polonius says be true to yourself he means to never be someone your not even if no one expects you. Being someone else your not just makes you a fake person. Another meaning of being true to yourself is having morals and values to your life.

3 Films of Hamlet

The first version of Hamlet I watched, with Mel Gibson, I did not really like it as much because it did not have anything attractive about it as far as the colors, and the setting. One thing I do agree with about the movie is the intense scene between Claudius and Gertrude, the moment showed that their was something going on between them too, and the moment was suspense.

The second version of
Hamlet I saw was played by the actor Kenneth Branagh. This version was the best to me fro
m the time it started because I like the fact that the movie uses colors, and a lot of the setting to represent the themes. Hamlet wore all black while everyone el
se's clothes was in colo
r. After the King and Hamlet's mother got married everyone was cheering on, but then Hamlet walked in the room and everything got quiet. That explains how the director uses actions ands moods to express the film. I also like how Hamlet came in
to character, when
I watched the movie his actions seem real.

The third version of the movie I watched in class, by Ethan Hawke, I did not like it as much because the setting was to modern. I thought the setting being more modern would help me understand the movie better, but this version was confusing. I did not really understand Hamlet being on camera describing how he felt. I felt as though that has nothing to do with the book, and the idea of Hamlet is not coming across as well.
